Acupuncture for Pain Relief

“Pain is inevitable. Suffering is optional.” – Anonymous

Support groups can be life changing for many people, especially for emotional trauma or for diseases that are more severe where people have to learn to live with to a certain degree of discomfort. But when it comes to physical pain, in most cases there should not be a need for a support group. If proper therapies are appropriately applied, each person should achieve great health. Fortunately, the awareness of alternative therapies such as acupuncture is steadily growing in US.

Some 80% of Americans suffer of back pain at some point in their life. Back pain is notoriously stubborn as it involves bones, muscles, ligaments, and tendons. Besides back pain, people are oftentimes affected by other types of pain, from shoulder pain to elbow pain and knee pain. A new study shows again the effectiveness of acupuncture for any kind of pain.

Damiana uses a combination of acupuncture, massage, and injection therapy (an alternative to corticosteroid shots) to treat pain successfully. Our patients say it best; here is a testimonial from a patient with severe shoulder pain:

“When I came to Damiana’s office, I was recently diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease. I also had severe insomnia and shoulder pain.

I had 3 major shoulder surgeries that resulted in infection. After seeing a variety of specialists over a year and a half I was frustrated and still in pain. After many improper diagnoses, I finally found Damiana. She has been extremely helpful in alleviating the pain and my increased shoulder mobility has finally allowed me to work out again.

When I first started seeing Damiana I was only sleeping a couple of hours a night. After just a few of treatments I noticed a drastic difference. In fact, one morning I slept through the alarm clock! With more sleep, I found my energy to be much better, without mental fogginess and my tremors decreased.

Damiana is very kind, thoughtful, and innovative in her treatments. She is always looking for new techniques to further improve my health.” ~David
