I am one of the few acupuncturists in the world who focuses on sleep problems. After having a general practice for a few years treating many different disorders such as back and neck pain, depression, fatigue, and digestive and hormonal issues, I gradually shifted my practice towards sleep problems such as insomnia, sleep apnea, nightmares, and other related disorders. However, because sleep problems are part of a bigger imbalance, I often work with hormonal imbalances, gut issues, thyroid disorders, and mental and emotional issues.
After a few years of practice, I further completed my education by adding functional medicine to my tools, so I can better serve my patients in understanding the root cause and healing their sleep problems.

What healing means to me & how it influences my practice
Our emotional and spiritual health is impossible to separate from our physical health. In my personal life, this has been my biggest struggle and blessing. I have experienced trauma that has deeply affected my physical body. Since then, I had to learn that it is important to care for the physical body, but equally important to heal the emotional and spiritual aspects.
God or the Universe, or whatever you call that It, is what actually does the healing. Whether it is acupuncture, or a supplement, or a food, or a drug, or a loving word – healing flows through it all.
I ask many of my patients what they feel about certain supplements, treatments, etc. Or what is their take on why they feel ill. Many, many times their answers are spot on. Trusting ourselves is very important and adds great value to the knowledge I have.
There is so much value in integrating various therapies, from natural to Western medicine. There is a place and time for everything. I believe in science-based medicine, which includes scientific studies along with experience-based medicine.
The Italian proverb “Give a man a fish and you feed him for a day. Teach him how to fish and you feed him for his life time” deeply resonates with me as I am a teacher at heart.
